The role SiteMinder can play
SiteMinder offers a hotel distribution and commerce platform, including channel management, booking-engine and related products. Its channel manager connects rates and availability across supported sales channels, while PMS integrations connect distribution with the hotel's operational system.
Your current PMS version, room and rate structure, required channels and connection method matter more than a total integration count. Obtain confirmation for your exact setup and the data exchanged in each direction.
A sensible shortlist scenario
Consider this route when the property wants to retain its PMS but improve distribution or direct-booking workflows. State which system remains the reservation record and who resolves discrepancies between it and a channel.
A channel-management project does not remove the need for good front-desk routines. Keep owners for room closures, rate changes and exception review. If the PMS itself is the problem, compare a migration separately so the purchase addresses the actual constraint.
Test the connection, not just the interface
Ask for a new reservation, modification and cancellation walkthrough using a channel you actually use. Include a temporary room closure and a rate-restriction change. Record expected behavior in the PMS and channel, which updates are supported, and how exceptions appear.
Check room-type and rate-plan mapping before launch. Ask about dependencies on the PMS provider, how connection issues are escalated, and who troubleshoots each side. A standard integration description is not a confirmed configuration.
Direct booking and costs
If a booking engine is included, examine the mobile booking journey, availability, cancellation terms, payment handoff and reporting. Direct does not mean free of every cost: compare subscription, payment, optional product and implementation charges.
Request current pricing for room count, country, product scope and contract period. Ask whether the retained PMS vendor charges for connectivity. Keep optional products, distribution fees and payment arrangements visible so proposals are comparable.
