HotelRite FIELD GUIDE
Build a handover the next shift can use
A shift note should explain what needs action, by whom, and when.
Start with open items
Use a consistent structure for operational issues, outstanding requests, and time-sensitive follow-ups. Store guest-identifying details only in approved systems.
Confirm room status
Resolve discrepancies between front-desk and housekeeping status through the property’s established process. Avoid unofficial parallel lists.
Assign ownership
Give each unresolved item a responsible role and target time. Mark urgent safety or maintenance matters for the appropriate escalation.
Read it together
Where possible, make the handover a short review rather than a pile of notes. Confirm the receiving shift understands the priorities.
Keep the conversation grounded.
